Salai has a broad network in the heart of Japan’s mushroom-producing
regions. Our unique and central location in Komoro City, Nagano
Prefecture, allows us to take international clients to farms, equipment
manufacturers, and food processors on a day tour basis.
We
handle transportation (to and from the nearest bullet train station),
interpretation, and scheduling for clients on farm consultation tours:
if a client can make it to Japan, we will handle the rest.
The
mushroom industry in Japan is famously insular, making it difficult to
make connections without local contacts. Additionally, very few people
in the industry speak English, and hiring a regular interpreter can be
costly. It can also be challenging for general interpreters to
accurately convey information about mushroom farming, as the industry is
very specialized, potentially leading to misunderstandings or omitted
information.
No one in Japan can offer as “deep” a dive as Salai
does, and we are happy to discuss and personalize tours for each client.
We provide free quotations for different options (subscribers to the
Japanese Exotic Mushroom Journal get one free day of touring of up to two
locations).
