Our Mission Statement
Japanese Tradition and Technology
Along with the exciting release of the very first edition of the
Japanese Exotic Mushroom Journal (JEMJ) in September 2023, we will regularly publish information on Japanese mushroom growing ? an as-yet little-known area to the rest of the world.
I hope that harnessing the JEMJ industry network and sharing the knowledge and challenges of Japanese mushroom growers and companies, as well as growing tips, proves helpful to the struggles and questions of mushroom-growing companies worldwide. We will also present a steady stream of information about the mushroom industry, including academic information, unique Japanese mushroom products, mushroom recipes and interviews with
cultivation companies and farmers.
The global exotic mushroom industry is still in its infancy, but I am confident the next five to ten years will see the market expand exponentially. In such a market environment, I hope to impart to the world the mushroom-growing knowledge that has been fostered over the years.
Please email us at
jemj@salai.jp with any questions about growing technology and methods, providing as much detail as possible in addition to photographs. We will then try to explore these topics in future articles.
In closing, Japanese growing technology has supported the mushroom industry, consistently refining technology and paving the way for the global industry for over 50 years. We will regularly relay information specifically for mushroom-growing companies around the world to help improve production and profitability. High-quality and reliable grow bags, automatic machinery and growing technology, are crucial in mushroom growing and lacking in just one of these will drastically affect yield. Grow bags, in particular, are one of the most important elements of technology, supporting Japanese bag cultivation farmers for decades since the dawn of the industry. They play an instrumental role in mushroom growing, greatly contributing to stable cultivation. In Japan, skilled workers manually inspect every bag, feeling them to check the quality before shipping them, thus establishing their reputation for reliable quality.
